Endoscopy

An endoscopy is a procedure used to look inside the body. The endoscopy procedure uses an endoscope to examine the interior of a hollow organ or cavity of the body. An endoscopy procedure involves inserting a long, flexible tube called endoscope down the throat and into the esophagus. A tiny camera on the end of the endoscope lets the doctor examine the oesophagus, stomach and the beginning of the small intestine.

When passed through the bottom end to look into the large bowel its called a colonoscopy.
